MLB power rankings: Yankees, Dodgers tie for the top spot


Scoring 29 runs against the Red Sox in London, the Yankees put the league (and world) on notice, subsequently tying with the Dodgers for the No. 1 spot in this week's Major League Baseball power rankings.
The Yankees were on a 13-1 run through Sunday and pushed their division lead to seven games, the biggest it's been this season. 
What's scary is that the Yankees may not even be playing up to their full potential right now. They'll almost certainly add a starting pitcher this month, which will bolster a rotation that has been inconsistent at times.
This of course is no knock on the Dodgers, who went 18-10 in June even while struggling with injuries.
These two teams have met in the World Series 11 times through the years and right now it's looking like they're on a collision course for a 12th.
Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu have been key for the Yankees.

  • Bryce Harper isn't an All-Star for the first time since 2014.

  • 20-year-old Fernando Tatis Jr., hit .383 in June.
16. Washington Nationals (–)
  • They're 23-10 since May 24, but the bullpen issues persist.
17. St. Louis Cardinals (-6)
  • Marcell Ozuna heads to the injured list with finger fractures.
18. Arizona Diamondbacks (+2)
  • The extension they gave Ketel Marte last year is an absolutely steal.
19. Los Angeles Angels (+2)
  • 23-year-old righty Griffin Canning is having a very nice debut season.
